TAU Hakkında

TAU, Dublin doğumlu, Berlin’li Nunutzi ile Venezuella’lı proje ortağı Gerald Pasqualin’in Psikedelik folk projesidir.

Doğallıktan ve şamanik deneyimlerden yola çıkarak müziklerini icra eden grup geçtiğimiz sene Ekim ayında Berlin’de TAU TAU TAU adlı albümünü kaydedip  yayınladı.  Albüm’de Siouxsie and the Banshees ‘den tanıtığımız Knox Chandler , Tindersticks’den tanıdığımız Earl Harvin ve Miss Kenichi gibi müzisyenlerle ortaklaşa parçalar kaydetti. Albümde bulunan Mother ve Midnight Jaguar adlı parçaları Kuzey Amerika’nın spiritüel müziğini yansıtırken, The Bridge of Khajou ise İran’ın mistik ve Sufizm yönünün ortaya çıkarmayı hedefledi.  Grup, Psikedelik folk akımını Güney Amerika Ayavaska Seromonileri ile birleştirerek farklı pick-up’lar  ile elde edilen gitar sesleri, hipnotik Güney Amerika ritimleri, İrlanda Ozan geleneği,  Rock ve psikedelia ile son derece farklı performanslar sergiliyor.

About TAU

The stories of myth tell us that the desert is a place of transformation where the physical emptiness of the landscape creates a potent space for
connecting with the invisible and intangible forces of the numinous. History is full of seekers, artists, mystics and musicians who have travelled to the desert to enter into such an experience It was after being lead on a pilgrimage through “Wirikuta”, the sacred desert of the Wixarika, native to the land the land of north west Mexico that Dublin-born Berlin resident Nunutzi was inspired to form Tau, meaning Father Sun. A shifting and fluid collaborative project with Nunutzi at the helm along with partner-in-sound, Venezuelan-born Gerald Pasqualin, the result is Tau’s debut album released through Fuzz Club on Sept 9th.
TAU TAU TAU is a wild archaic scream from the heart, woven from a seamless thread of prayers, chants, psychedelic invocations, and as Nunutzi says “songs of praise” in English, Spanish and Gaelic, shaken through pre-hispanic drums, bells, shakers, synths and acoustic guitar played “through an amp with a very shitty pick up that gives a weird sound.” The recordings began in Berlin, by happenstance on the day Bowie died, the album was completed in a nine day live session. “ Though sad, for us it was a very good omen to start that day. There was a silent euphoria in the room, like being at the wake of an old friend with your closest friends. We made an altar for him for the huge inspiration that he was which stayed there until we finished the recording”.
Featuring collaborations with Knox Chandler of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Earl Harvin of Tindersticks, Nina Hynes and Miss Kenichi, TAU TAU TAU includes numerous additional vocalists and musicians, all of whom make their own unique contribution to the celebratory psychedelic folk of Tau. While tracks like Mother and Midnight Jaguar summon up the spiritual music of North and Central America, The Bridge of Khajou has its heart in the Sufi mystic poetry of Iran. Mo Anam Cara (Gaelic for soul mate) is haunted by the ghost of Love’s Arthur Lee. Venadito and Kauyumari is an ode to the Great Deer spirit . Espiral (Spanish for spiral) is Tau’s riotous interpretation of chant sang in Temazcal Sweatlodges . Tau’s journey through the psyche comes to rest with Tara – the sacred dwelling place of Ireland – a long, luminous jam that signals a momentous, if fleeting, feeling of completion.
Says Nunutzi, “Vibrations, notes, semi tones, chants, lyrics, whatever it is, music has the power to heal and transcend all the clutter and if you can
create that magic for yourself you can give it back to other people. This blows my mind”.
